On May 27th and 28th, Francisco Morales, researcher at the Human Development Lab, participated in the 7th Migration & Organizations Conference, held at Columbia Business School in New York. The event brought together leading international scholars to explore the intersection of migration and organizations.
In “The Impact of Immigration on Firms’ Human Capital Strategy,” he analyzes how the immigration shock in Chile over the past decade has influenced the way companies make human capital decisions. His findings suggest that firms tend to reorganize their internal structures in response to the inflow of migrant labor. He also presented “The Unique Blend,” which shows that European football clubs with more distinctive mixes of immigrant players perform better, underscoring the value of talent diversity in competitive environments.
Now in its seventh edition, the Migration & Organizations Conference is the premier academic gathering at the intersection of migration studies and organizational research. This year’s event was hosted by the Tamer Institute for Social Enterprise and Climate Change at Columbia Business School, with the support of the ESG Initiative at the Wharton School.
