Isabela Munevar Joins the Faculty and Human Development Lab

We are pleased to announce that Isabela Munevar will join the Department of Economics at Universidad de los Andes (Chile) as an Assistant Professor of Economics in the second half of 2025. She will also become an affiliated researcher at the Human Development Lab.

Isabela holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Education from Columbia University, as well as a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for International Development at Harvard University, where she collaborates with Professors Asim Khwaja and Juan E. Saavedra on the Colombia Education Initiative.

Her research lies at the intersection of the Economics of Education, Public and Political Economy, and Development Economics. Her recent work focuses on understanding how different school models generate value-added for students with diverse backgrounds, offering key insights into the design of optimal educational environments.

In addition to her academic trajectory, Isabela has collaborated with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on several policy initiatives and has extensive experience in applied research in Latin America.
