The event once again brought together leading international scholars to discuss cutting-edge research on the most pressing challenges facing educational systems worldwide.
This year’s workshop featured prominent keynote speakers, including Jesse Rothstein, Professor of Public Policy and Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, Steffen Pischke, Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics, and Miguel Urquiola, Dean of Social Sciences and Professor of Economics at Columbia University. Their presentations set the tone for a series of enriching discussions and debates throughout the four-day event.
Participants included renowned academics from institutions such as Yale University, the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Wellesley College, the Hoover Institution, Toulouse School of Economics, Queen’s University, University of Delaware, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, and Universidad de los Andes, among others.
The workshop addressed a wide range of research topics, such as the effects of different curricular orientations on student outcomes, the challenges of higher education selectivity, and policies aimed at reducing long-term educational inequalities. Presentations also explored the lasting impact of early childhood programs, and how local leadership and school policies can influence teenage behavior and sexual education. In addition, researchers discussed issues related to teacher labor markets, and student achievement, as well as persistent gender gaps in the teaching profession.
Beyond the academic sessions, the workshop fostered a collaborative environment in which participants could exchange ideas, engage in informal discussions, and strengthen networks across regions and disciplines. By consolidating its third edition, the Workshop on Economics of Education has established a platform for advancing global collaboration and fostering innovative perspectives on educational policy and research.
