Hugo Salgado, junior fellow at the Human Development Lab, presented his work at the workshop “External Vulnerability and the Development Challenge in the Current Conjuncture”, organized by IDEAs—a progressive, South-led network of development thinkers and practitioners—and the Institute of International Relations at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus (IIR/The UWI).
The event, held at The University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, brought together advanced students, research scholars, and young academics in economics and related fields. During the workshop, Hugo presented his paper titled “Students on the Move, Teachers Too? Teacher Labor Market Responses to Immigrant Student Inflows”, which explores how teacher labor markets respond to increases in immigrant student populations.
The workshop was organized in parallel with the IDEAs–IIR International Conference on “Caribbean Unorthodox Economic Thought”, held on October 23–24 at The UWI St. Augustine Campus. Participants selected for the workshop were also invited to take part in this international conference.
