Researchers from the Human Development Lab participated in the Chile Strategy Conference, held at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (San Joaquín Campus) between December 17 and 19, where they presented their work in different sessions of the conference.
Juan Pedro Ronconi took part in the session “Behavioral Aspects in Markets and Organizations”, presenting the paper “Planning and Performance: Experimental Evidence from Small Firms in E-Commerce.” His research examines how behavioral frictions affect planning decisions in small firms and how light-touch interventions can improve performance, drawing on experimental evidence from e-commerce retailers in Argentina and Brazil.
During the same time slot, Francisco Morales participated in the session “Cultural Differences and Organizational Growth”, where he presented the paper “The Impact of Immigration on Firms’ Human Capital Strategy.” Reflecting on the study’s findings, Morales explained: “I presented evidence on how immigration transforms human resource management. The study shows that firms respond by creating complementary roles, combining greater flexibility for immigrant workers with greater contractual stability for domestic workers.”
The Chile Strategy Conference is hosted by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and co-sponsored by the Academy of Management’s STR Division and Strategy Science.
