Jorge Rodríguez, researcher at the Human Development Lab of the Universidad de los Andes, serves as Director of the Master’s in Economics program at the Faculty of Economics and Business.

As part of the academic calendar, Rodríguez welcomed new students during the program’s official opening session held on Thursday, March 19. The meeting, which took place at the Faculty’s Council Room, marked the beginning of a new academic cycle for incoming graduate students.

The Master’s in Economics aims to deepen and expand students’ knowledge in the economic field, combining strong theoretical foundations with practical applications. Through a full-time, in-person format, the program equips students with analytical tools to address real-world economic challenges and generate impactful solutions in their professional environments.

The curriculum includes both theoretical and applied courses, as well as a research seminar where students engage with concrete economic problems. This structure allows graduates to develop rigorous technical skills while strengthening their ability to evaluate public policies, analyze market dynamics, and design effective solutions across both the private and public sectors.

The program is designed for professionals seeking to advance their expertise in economics, including those with backgrounds in related disciplines such as engineering, mathematics, political science, and business. Graduates are prepared to pursue careers in the private sector, government, research centers, and entrepreneurship.

Under Rodríguez’s leadership, the program emphasizes academic excellence, close faculty-student interaction, and a strong commitment to addressing complex economic and social challenges.
