Jorge Rodríguez, researcher at the Human Development Lab and faculty member at Universidad de los Andes, recently participated in the annual meeting of the Econometric Society in Atlanta, United States. The conference is widely recognized as one of the leading international forums for the presentation and discussion of frontier research in economics.
During the meeting, Rodríguez presented his paper, “Spillover Effects of Affirmative Action in College Admissions,” contributing to ongoing academic discussions on higher education policies and access to university opportunities. The study examines the broader effects of affirmative action policies in college admissions, a topic of growing relevance in education economics.
The conference also provided an opportunity to strengthen academic connections and foster collaboration within the international research community. While in Atlanta, Rodríguez met with Javier Boncompte Guarda, who will join the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universidad de los Andes in August after completing his Ph.D. in Economics at University College London.
Participation in international conferences such as the Econometric Society Annual Meeting helps expand research networks, promote scholarly exchange, and contribute to the development of high-quality research with global relevance.
